The devil is definitely in the detail of this seemingly simple crepe satin gown. From the front the dress is modest, with only a slight v-neck to seductively frame the neck, but from behind it’s a very different story. The entire back is revealed beneath a panel of Chantilly lacework, for a design statement which adds a touch of old Hollywood glamor. The vintage styling encapsulates the description given by Stephanie Mayer in the book, and with her design, Herrera has managed to strike the perfect balance between vamp and virgin. If you want to take a bite of Bella’s style, the gown is set to hit Carolina Herrera boutiques in the new year. If you can’t wait that long Alfred Angelo has produced this great version, complete with 152 covered buttons.

And delightfully, we discovered this quirky venue is the only place you can get married outside in the UK. Yes, getting married outside can actually become a reality here! Many wedding venues offer an outdoor, al fresco experience but only Le Gothique offers an actual outdoor wedding ceremony. The outdoor area is a secret cloistered garden internal to the buidling itself which was a great space, quite large but intimate enough for a romantic wedding ceremony. And with an outdoor opportunity, the weather always becomes more of a concern, but a large canopy can be erected to cover, light and heat the garden, and the internal restaurant with its Gothic bar is always available should it be needed. We also found the food delicious, an impressive choice of wine and Mark to be a host with a great character, with lots of intriguing stories to tell about the building! Oh what a fabulous Christmas. I hope yours was as restful as mine with family, friends and all that scrummy food and drink. After an amazing three days including my getting a year older yesterday and spending the day in London with scrumptious Hubby and my scrummy little girl… it’s time to get back to the fun stuff, weddings! I was looking back at some of the top wedding dress collections the other day and was astounded at how unique the wedding dress is now becoming and so wanted to highlight some of my favourite wedding dresses of 2011.
This year there’s been tons of vintage glamour adorning the Bridal stores, masses of stunning embellishments creeping into the designs and we’re finally seeing something that should have happened years ago; the rise of the alternative wedding dress, including the black wedding dress.
